Mission
Welcome to the home page of The Committee for Sensible School Funding. This site is designed to provide interested visitors with information on the Committee's activities, as well as legislative developments, studies and relevant information which might impact the adoption of a final education funding solution. The Committee for Sensible School Funding is comprised of New Hampshire individualst and businesses that are significantly invovled in New Hampshire. Our mission is to contribute to the public policy dialogue on education funding while preserving and protecting New Hampshire's unique competitive advantage and improving our education system for future generations.


CSSF Studies

By national standards New Hampshire has one of the best education systems in the United States, so the “school funding” problem is not an education quality issue overall, but a legal problem that affects a relatively small number of NH communities.  This problem should be solved with the minimum impact on the performance of the balance of our education system.

The CSSF is one of the few organizations that has funded independent studies on the impact of various proposal alternatives for resolving the school funding problem in NH.  These studies have brought out the following general conclusions:

1.    Based on the evidence from 20 states that have gone through an education funding legal challenge similar to that of NH, shifting education funding from the local level to the state level will ultimately reduce spending on education compared to states that have education funded at the local level.
